Position Summary:

The Leadership Circle Officer is responsible for the day-to-day operations, revenue goals, and implementation of the stewardship program for donors within the Leadership Circle annual giving program ($1,500 Patrons; $2,500 Advocates; $5,000 Directors; $10,000 President's Circle). With the Director of Membership and Leadership Circle, this position will develop strategies to secure annual operating Leadership Circles gifts. They will work to grow the Leadership Circle Program by acquiring new donors while retaining and encouraging upgrades from existing donors.

This position will have a portfolio of approximate 50 donors. The position, working with other members of the Development Team, is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of new and upgraded prospects.

 Position Responsibility:

  • With the Director of Membership and Leadership Circle and the Leadership Circle Team, develop revenue growth strategies and prospecting for each of the groups within the Leadership Circle
  • Manage a portfolio of donors.
  • Strategically cultivate and solicit donors in person, over the phone, via email and direct mail to renew and increase their support.
  • Regularly communicate with Leadership Circle donors about upcoming events and opportunities.
  • Along with the other memberships of the Leadership Circle Team, identify Leadership Circle prospects from the pool of current members.
  • Welcome new Leadership Circle donors.
  • Document donor contacts in our CRM following established protocols.
  • Provide regular updates and fundraising results.
  • Assist with other solicitations, such as gala tables.
  • Identify Major Gift prospects and work with the Director of Development and Major Gift Officers to cultivate deeper relationships
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Required Education and Experience:

 Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required.

  • 3-5 years of direct donor experience
  • Proven track record in securing gifts.
  • Knowledge of planned giving vehicles and ability to identify strong prospects.

 

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: 

  • Motivated, creative, and organized self-starter.
  • Enthusiastic and determined fundraiser with a record of meeting / exceeding revenue targets.
  • Able to develop strategic long-term donor relationships while achieving bottom-line results.
  • Innovative, flexible, and able to prioritize in a rapidly evolving organization and industry.
  • Collaborative and successful at working within a team and across an organization.
  • A persuasive and strategic communicator with excellent interpersonal and written / spoken communication skills.
  • Strong interest in public media and its case for support.
  • Able to participate in donor events, including occasional evenings and weekend, and travel to donor meetings throughout southern California.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor, and strong computer skills are required.
  • Willingness to embrace the organization's priorities and style. 

Preferred Skills and Experience: 

  • Salesforce and donor database experience a plus.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions: 

  • Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to travel during the day, with occasional overnight travel required. 
  • Must have a personal vehicle available for use to call on donors.  Mileage reimbursement will be provided.
  • Must have a valid, current driver's license.
  • Must have a clean driving record with no DWIs or excessive amount of traffic violations or accidents.
  • Physical Demands: 
    • Required to move about in an office environment and sit for extended periods of time
    • Frequent use of hands for data entry/keystrokes and simple grasping
  • Working Conditions: 
    • Moderate noise level
