Position Summary: 

This position is responsible for accurately processing donor gifts, and maintaining the integrity of the membership database to ensure meaningful recording of gifts that represent the donor intent.  This position ensures that documents, correspondence and payments are processed in accordance with service requirements, document handling procedures, audit, and financial controls.

This position will be based with the Development Operations team in St. Paul, MN at Minnesota Public Radio and will be working remotely with the Southern California Public Radio (SCPR) offices in Pasadena, CA.

The role is part-time: 24 - 30 hours per week.

 Position Responsibility: 

  • Process pledges and payments for SCPR received through the website, Member/Audience Services, and mail. Support pledge and payment processing for Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) as needed.
  • Monitor selection and transmission of daily credit card transactions.
  • Adjust and code declined credit card charges.
  • Set up and record donor authorizations for monthly EFT file transmissions.
  • Process member record changes generated by telemarketing, fund drives, mailings, and other activities.
  • Assist with customer service requests from members, Member and Audience Services, and Major Gifts regarding membership records, payments, and pledges. This may include pledge/payment adjustments, cancellations, premiums, merges and other requests.
  • Research problems and provide resolution/information to Member and Audience Services, Major Gifts, and Research.
  • Process gifts received from Lockbox, third party vendor websites, telemarketing files, vehicle donations, and payroll deductions.
  • Support the matching gift process.
  • Support and participate in Membership and Major Gifts department initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Required Education and Experience: 

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years payment processing experience.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook and other pc based software. 

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: 

  • Proficient in working with numbers and data with a high accuracy rate.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer services skills and a friendly and professional attitude.
  • Ability to successfully communicate and work remotely with other team members.
  • Ability to independently prioritize multiple tasks and complete work within deadlines.
  • Strong service ethic and the ability to contribute to the overall quality of the Department.

 Preferred Skills and Experience: 

  • Knowledge of donor relational database systems.
  • Knowledge of the various aspects of nonprofit giving such as major gifts, donor advised funds, acknowledgements, and premiums.
  • Bookkeeping or other banking/accounting experience.
  • Interest in/knowledge of public broadcasting.
