The Marketing Manager position plays an important role in bringing our mission to life. Position Summary: 

This position works with cross-functional teams to develop and lead marketing strategies and promotional tactics for The Current that drive awareness and encourage usage of, and engagement with, our brand, products and services.  We're looking for a well-rounded marketer with a solid promotional background.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Work closely with content areas to understand business goals and plans to build comprehensive marketing plans that integrate content and marketing efforts.
  • Manage the development and implementation of integrated marketing campaigns including developing media and content plans, tracking deadlines, expense and revenues, and creative execution in a timely and strategic fashion.
  • Identify and secure sponsorship, partnership and event opportunities that build audiences, visibility and brand relevance.
  • Execute and liaison between internal and external teams, to implement sponsorships, partnerships and event plans across the portfolio. 
  • Collaborate with internal ad sales/underwriting departments on growing existing and new business efforts.
  • Spearhead, organize and execute events; work with dedicated Events team on larger event strategies.
  • Act as liaison between the internal departments and the creative team to manage identified projects create briefs, establish timelines, gather complete information necessary for production, work with client on purpose and effectiveness of elements.
  • Collaborate with PR and membership teams to holistically plan and implement all efforts.
  • Drive brand stewardship across the organization and all touchpoints.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related subject area
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Marketing, Advertising or Promotions required
  • Experience managing others in a supervisory role
  • Experience in managing multiple programs and clients
  • Experience in implementing multi-dimensional marketing projects, including promotions and special events
  • Experience in online marketing and social media (YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.) 

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: 

  • Demonstrated high degree of professional initiative and accountability
  • Strategic thinker with ability to work from concept though execution of campaigns
  • Ability to create relationships and connect with key decision makers at labels, venues etc.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a wide-variety of internal clients and staff, and a high degree of initiative and attention to detail is a must
  • Competence in transitioning from detail-oriented tasks to seeing the bigger picture
  • Ability to thrive in the fast-paced, ever-changing and at times, very stressful, environment
  • An enthusiasm for the product and company
  • A familiarity with and specific interest in public radio, its programs and audiences
  • A familiarity with and /or specific interest in music
  • Strong verbal communication, presentation and writing skills 

Preferred Skills and Experience: 

  • Experience from a marketing or advertising agency
  • Experience promoting and marketing music (programming/artists/labels/records/other)
  • Experience working with/for radio
  • Experience in organizing and staffing community events
