Position Summary:

Currently, the Marketplace portfolio of programs has nearly 15 million weekly listeners, and over the next five years our strategic plan dramatically builds on that strong foundation.


In your role as Senior Project Manager, you will manage the relationship between our content and our growing enterprise activities, serving as a crucial point of development and connectivity that will bridge what we make with how we drive our business. The Senior Project Manager will work with content and enterprise leaders to build infrastructure, partnerships, innovative content ideas and workstreams around stand-alone moments and ongoing special journalistic projects. In addition, they will manage project plans, develop planning tools, and ensure that the scope and direction of each project is on schedule and in line with Marketplace's strategic and organizational objectives. Position Responsibility:

  • Manages Marketplace-wide projects, from within the organization and third parties.
  • Responsible for leading people at all levels and in all areas of the organization to achieve the project goals.
  • Provides relevant communication to both internal and external audiences.
  • Reviews and manages operational practices for greater efficiency throughout the project.
  • Works with enterprise leads to ensure timely and accurate budget tracking, identifying key issues that arise throughout the project.
  • Serves as the key manager that links initiatives across special projects, creating consistency and communication.
  • Provides leadership related to Project Management within the organization, in ongoing process/tool development, training, coaching and mentoring, idea management, portfolio analysis.
  • Develops tracking systems to organize deliverables and communicate the status of the project or the cumulative impact of the projects.  Keeps stakeholders informed of status of deliverables.
  • Specific project management activities:
    • Manages the coordination of high-level stakeholders in various projects.
    • Leads a collaborative process around planning for the project and controls the project across several areas, including:
      • Developing and maintaining a detailed project plan.
      • Developing and executing an internal communication plan.
      • Managing project deliverables in line with the project plan.
      • Determining and reporting project status.
      • Recording and managing project issues and decisions.
      • Resolving cross-functional issues at the project level.
      • Developing and maintaining a risk management plan.
      • Escalating where necessary.
      • Monitoring project progress and performance.
      • Ensures that the project team has the appropriate resources in place to succeed.
      • Uses appropriate project management methods and tools.
  • Could potentially play a role in recruitment and development of other project managers.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree OR equivalent work experience.
  • Seven or more years' experience, including managing the work of others across departments and groups.
  • Experience in journalism or media content creation.
  • Experience in budget preparation, analysis, and monitoring.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
