Position Summary:

KPCC is looking for a morning digital and audience engagement producer to join the one of the largest public radio stations in the country. The ideal candidate is someone who thinks about the audience first and how we can best serve them across our web, social and mobile platforms. You ask yourself on a regular basis, "Why would anyone care about this story?" Then you use that answer to help give each story a fighting chance on the interwebs.

Here are the basics: you must have strong news judgment with a Southern California sensibility, know how to write a great headline and be able to respond quickly to breaking news on all our platforms. You'll uphold the station's editorial voice and style on our homepage, social channels and news alerts. On any given day, you could be pulling reporting about the latest wildfire, collaborating with the newsroom on covering a horrific mass shooting, pulling wire on the latest celebrity death,  or writing sharelines about worm sex. You're also the resident digital guru for producers, editors and reporters.

Most importantly, you're a morning person. You'll be in for the 5 a.m. shift along with KPCC's Morning Edition crew. They'll keep you laughing, but you've got to have the energy and stamina to do the job at the crack of dawn.
