Position Summary: 

This position will work part-time Saturday evenings of show weekends, Sundays, Mondays and other hours during the week through June 2018. Hours will be approximately 24 hours per week but could vary from about 20-28 per week depending on whether there is a live show. 

The Assistant Digital Producer will assist in creating, publishing and managing digital content on a variety of platforms, including web, podcasts, newsletters, video and social media, for our live variety show with Chris Thile.  The Assistant Digital Producer will work during live shows during the 2017-2018 show season to monitor and assist with social media. In the Sunday-Tuesday following the live show, this position will assist with posting web content for the show and assisting with social media. On weeks where there is no live show, hours may shift to Monday-Wednesday at the discretion of manager.

Position Responsibility:

  • Publish multimedia content (text, audio, video, photography) to various social media channels in a character consistent with those brands.
  • Assist with monitoring and responding to user comments.
  • Monitor analytics of social posts
  • Prepare summary of social sentiment after each show
  • Prepare text, photos, video and audio for publication on digital platforms
  • Must attend all Saturday night live shows either in person or remotely for touring shows unless otherwise arranged with manager
  • Assist with writing and building of e-mail newsletters
  • Assist with uploading of video content
  • Upload audio feeds and files for distribution as podcasts and audio clips
  • Other duties as assigned 

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 1-2+ years' digital media and web publishing experience
  • 1-2+ years' experience in writing, editing and online production work.
  • Social media publication, curation and analytics experience
  • Experience using a web-based CMS such as Drupal, Wordpress 

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: 

  • Fluency in Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube administration.
  • Proficiency in preparing material for online use
  • Understanding of basic digital metrics.
  • Knowledge of basic Web production standards and tools (i.e., HTML, content management systems).
  • Excellent language skills, including writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • Ability to edit text, images, audio, video.
  • Ability to make decisions quickly and under pressure in a dynamic live show environment, hitting all deadlines.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance 

Preferred Skills and Experience: 

  • Knowledge of Photoshop and experience with digital photography
  • Experience in managing, editing and producing audio feeds and files
  • Familiarity with online arts/entertainment publications and experience with online media outreach

Physical Demands and Working Conditions: 

  • Ability to work Saturday-Tuesday for each weekend of the live show with host Chris Thile, including evenings.
  • Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Willingness and ability to occasionally work evenings/weekends.
  • Physical Demands: 
    • Required to move about in an office environment and sit for extended periods of time
    • Frequent use of hands for data entry/keystrokes and simple grasping
  • Working Conditions: 
    • Moderate noise level
    • Occasional exposure to prevalent weather conditions
