Position Summary:


This temporary, part-time position will support engagement activities of Unheard LA, a community-driven storytelling project produced by KPCC In Person.


KPCC In Person is the centerpiece of SCPR's effort to bring diverse audiences together and encourage face-to-face discussion and dialogue as part of its multiplatform Content strategy. KPCC In Person produces a range of programming including live installments of KPCC shows Take Two, AirTalk and The Frame as well as events and activities aligned with the KPCC newsroom; and creates a much-needed environment for civic engagement, both at the CFF and around Southern California.  KPCC In Person fosters collaborations internally and externally in an effort to deepen relationships with existing audience and creating relationships with new and prospective audience. 


This position will be responsible for administrative support of the engagement efforts for Unheard LA. This will include interaction with individuals and organizations for the purpose of raising awareness of the Unheard LA series, story submission process and individual shows as well as securing promotional opportunities in external calendar postings, e-blasts and print media.

Position Responsibility:

  • Support the engagement efforts of Unheard LA, a community-driven storytelling project produced by KPCC In Person in a manner that is consistent with SCPR's editorial and organizational standards.
  • Maintain, research and expand existing Unheard LA engagement database.
  • Engage with individuals and organizations to raise awareness of the Unheard LA series, story submission process and indivudal shows.
  • Identify and facilitate engagement and promotional opportunities for Unheard LA in external calendar postings, e-blasts and print media.
  • Maintain storyteller submission database.
  • Work closely with and support Manager, Public Engagement, Managing Producer and Forum Programs & Live Events on administrative aspects of engagement strategy for Unheard LA.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.  
  • Three or more years of related work experience. 
  • Significant experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Interest in public media, events, and/or production.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues in multiple departments/divisions and various diverse groups.
  • Team player.
  • Familiarity with LA metro area.
  • Multilingual preferred.
  • Composed and professional demeanor.
  • Must be self-motivated, results oriented and goal focused.
  • Excellent written and oral verbal skills.
  • Familiarity with PC and Mac.
  • Web savvy, including proficiency with social media applications such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure.
  • Ability to work efficiently with limited direct supervision.
  • Ability to maintain productive and positive communication with co-workers.
