Position Summary 

As Media Marketing Specialist, you'll play a vital role in the marketing initiatives for MPR and APM. You will work closely with members of the marketing team to develop and execute custom advertising strategies across owned and paid digital and traditional platforms. If you're a growth hacker at heart, continually seeking new ways to grow audiences and make connections, we'd love to talk to you.

Position Responsibility: 


  • Experience putting together comprehensive, integrated digital paid and owned media
  • Generate monthly reporting for relevant predetermined metrics and goals.
  • Work with analytics teams to analyze and translate quantitative and qualitative data into actionable media plans or optimizations.
  • Work closely with other team members to define and meet marketing goals.
  • Collaborate with marketing team on project development, timelines and results.
  • Continuously look for new opportunities and advise clients on the latest trends across all media (traditional, digital, mobile, social, emerging, etc.)
  • Manage some direct traditional ad placements, mostly print and OOH.
  • Manage internal media placements within the American Public Media ecosystem.
  • Manage programmatic/display deployments with external vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Lead strategy and campaign execution of all aspects of paid search initiatives, including program development, expansion, optimization, reporting, forecasting, bid management and budgeting.
  • Perform all aspects of keyword research in coordination with business objectives to optimize existing content and uncover new opportunities.
  • Provide recommendations and execute strategies for keyword opportunities, campaign structuring, targeting, display network and other facets of paid search in accordance with marketing goals.
  • Perform daily account management of pay per click accounts on Google AdWords, and potentially other search platforms like Yahoo and Bing including maintaining and monitoring keyword bids, account budgets, impression share, quality score and other important account metrics.
  • Guide the creative development and optimization of ad copy and landing pages.
  • Monitor and analyze organic performance of company web properties for key search terms and provide recommendations. 


  • Design, develop, launch and optimize paid social marketing programs across all platforms that allow paid advertising.
  • Identify, monitor and analyze effective benchmarks and metrics for measuring the impact of social media initiatives, and refine strategies and tactics for greater reach and success.
  • Manage social marketing Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and regularly report on status and effectiveness.
  • Quickly discover and explore new paid and organic -- opportunities in social media marketing, including trending social platforms such as Snapchat, Reddit, Tumblr, etc. 

Required Education and Experience: 

  • BA/BS Degree in Communications, Marketing or Advertising or equivalent experience
  • 2-4 years of relevant marketing experience
  • Experience creating comprehensive, integrated digital paid and owned media plans.
  • Solid understanding of various digital marketing tactics including paid search, social, display, YouTube/video, SEO, mobile, and analytics and attribution
  • Proficiency with Google AdWords & display and Facebook advertising
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics
  • Keyword research experience
  • Some experience with programmatic and display paid media placement

Preferred Skills and Experience: 

  • Agency or media-related company experience
  • Google AdWords Certified
  • Google Analytics IQ certified
