Who We Are:

Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) is one of the nation's premier public radio stations producing programming for radio, digital and live audiences and operates a 46-station radio network serving nearly all of Minnesota and parts of surrounding states. Reaching 1 million listeners each week, MPR and its three regional services 'MPR NewsClassical MPR and The Current' produce programming for radio, digital and live audiences.

Your Role:

MPR News is looking for an experienced data journalist to join our award-winning political team and strengthen our 2020 election coverage.

We're the only statewide network in Minnesota and we're known for our strong political coverage. This data journalist will bring demonstrated skills uncovering and reporting on data to tell stories that resonate with our audience.

You will work with the political editor and the rest of the political team and will also work closely with MPR News' digital team. You will be expected to talk about your reporting on the radio and contribute to radio stories as well. This position may be extended past the 2020 election.

The job requires solid journalistic chops, a creative, collegial approach and a willingness to step back and thoughtfully assess the ways journalists use (or don't use) data and organized information in their stories, and how they might use it to better inform their storytelling.

This job will be based in the MPR Newsroom and get story edits/assignments from the politics editor as well as the digital desk. You will strictly adhere to MPR News ethics guidelines.
