Yes, Benefits

Position Summary:

Do you thrive on being one of the first in the know and then sharing that knowledge widely? Are you motivated to figure out the best way to tell a story? Can you translate broadcast content into engaging stories for a digital audience? Do you pride yourself on writing fast and clean copy? Do you enjoy trying new things? If so, let's talk.

We're looking for a nimble, creative digital journalist who will be embedded with our Marketplace Morning Report team (MMR) in New York. Your job? Telling stories across digital platforms that make people smarter as they get ready to start their day.

You'll be working in an extremely fast-paced environment. You'll start the morning by collaborating with our partners at the BBC to explain what's going on in the world. You'll be ready when the markets open, and you'll work side by side with David Brancaccio and the rest of the MMR team to react to breaking news as the rest of the country is waking up and wanting to know what happened overnight.

A key part of this job will be making quick decisions about what to publish, where and when. How can we best serve our digital audiences and where can we add value?  The successful candidate will have very strong news judgement, know how to find a sharp angle on the story and be comfortable making quick judgments about which platform to use for a given story. In this role you'll also think about content for our daily newsletter and look ahead to stories coming up on MMR that could benefit from a creative digital treatment.

It's an exciting time to join Marketplace. We are an industry leader in telling meaningful and creative stories across platforms, with a combined weekly audience of 20 million from broadcast, digital and On Demand, all centered around the ambition of raising the economic intelligence of the country.

Marketplace is an ambitious shop, fueled by ambitious ideas. This is a place of creativity and unorthodox thinking. We don't take ourselves too seriously, even though we understand the critical importance of people understanding how the economy shapes the world around us.

This posting has an application deadline of October 25, 2019 (10PM PST).
