Who we are:

Live from Here with Chris Thile is a Saturday-night destination for audiences everywhere. This variety show features a unique blend of musical performances, comedy, and audience interaction. Acclaimed musician and songwriter Chris Thile welcomes a wide range of well-known and up-and-coming talent to share the stage and create a beautiful listening experience.

Live from Here is produced and distributed nationwide by American Public Media, and is heard by 2.1 million listeners each week on nearly 600 public radio stations, online, and SiriusXM Radio.

 

Intern, Digital Live from Here

The Live from Here intern will provide support as we experiment with ways to reach new fans online and refine how we connect with our existing, highly invested listeners. This will be a great opportunity to see how public radio professionals produce a one-of-a-kind variety show each week and translate the live broadcast's energy for an online audience.

 

Key Learning Goals:

  • How the show's digital, creative, production, and marketing teams work together to deliver a unique experience for radio and theater audiences.
  • How to create engaging content for a variety of social media channels.
  • How to communicate with an enthusiastic online audience.
  • How to navigate a brisk, unique production environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the digital team with production, editing, and posting of social media videos, photos, and posts from the show and behind-the-scenes moments.
  • Research music, comedy, and culture news for use in newsletters and social media posts.
  • Write and edit video and photo captions, metadata, and other digital media details.
  • Monitor social analytics and sentiment as needed.
  • Assist with other program creative, production, and marketing duties as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors in an undergraduate or Master's program OR have earned a degree within the last 12 months.
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Very strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to self-direct once given a task.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Online writing, publishing, or editorial experience with local college news operations (i.e. newspaper, radio station, website, magazine) or other organizations.
  • Experience managing digital platforms and tools (YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) with local college news operations (i.e. newspaper, radio station, website, magazine) or other organizations.
  • Knowledge of digital media trends and best practices (content types, brand voice, analytics & measurement).
  • Experience shooting and editing videos and photos.
  • Familiarity with content tools like Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, Illustrator.
  • Familiarity with business tools like Word, Excel, Docs, Sheets.
  • Experience recording and editing audio.
