Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) is one of the nation's premier public radio stations producing programming for radio, digital and live audiences and operates a 46-station radio network serving nearly all of Minnesota and parts of surrounding states. Its multi-regional station operations include 49 public radio stations and 42 translators in the Upper Midwest and California.

Your Role: 

As the Marketing Manager, National Distribution, for American Public Media you serve as the voice of marketing strategy and communication strategies for all B to B distribution needs. In this role, you support programs such as BBC, The Daily, Live from Here, Marketplace and others. You will partner closely with the VP of Content Distribution and Partnerships on future product distribution models, new product launches, crisis communications, and development and launches of new tools for our partner stations using audience insights and data to drive market decisions.

Position Responsibility: 

  • Work closely with marketing teams to understand their ongoing initiatives, new launches, and other products that require support. Communicate these programs effectively to stations and other B to B constituents.
  • Work closely with VP of Content Distribution and Partnerships to develop new distribution business models.
  • Develop and execute detailed ongoing communication plans for B to B engagement.
  • Develop and lead Marketing Advisory Group with partner stations to increase station loyalty for APM products and audience loyalty for stations.
  • Act as liaison between content teams and marketing managers to identify station needs and develop effective station/audience engagement tactics.   
  • Create audience engagement tactics that drive loyalty to our products/services through stations.
  • Partner with sales staff on targeted acquisition and retention strategies.
  • Work closely with the Director of Distribution and Manager of Portfolio Strategy to identify marketing strategies and align efforts against business priorities.
  • Create marketing launch plans for new products and services and execute on those plans to industry partners.
  • Identify and implement new activities that drive deeper connections with partners and their national audiences.
  • Act as liaison between internal partners and the creative team to manage identified projects establish timelines, gather complete information necessary for production, work with client on purpose and effectiveness of elements.
  • Lead marketing activities on behalf of APM around B-to-B industry conferences including PRPD and PMDMC.
  • Strategize, develop, and coordinate station facing communications.
  • Work with internal teams such as underwriting and development to translate marketing activity and show communications for a B2B audience. 

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related subject area; OR equivalent work experience.
  • 3 years of experience developing and managing marketing campaigns.
  • 3 years in B to B marketing capacity.
  • Experience developing and executing on communication strategies.
  • Experience developing sales pitches and nurturing client relationships.
  • Experience in managing multiple programs and clients.
  • Experience in writing marketing copy and key message points.
  • Experience in implementing multidimensional and experiential marketing projects, including special events and conferences.
  • Experience in online marketing and new marketing technologies preferred.
