Intern, Branding - Marketplace:

Marketplace is on a mission to raise the economic intelligence of the country and we're looking for an intern to join our growing Brand team.

As the most listened-to business program in the country, we connect the dots for our audience on the economy, tech and culture through unexpected angles on the news. The Marketplace portfolio of programs has nearly 15 million weekly listeners and we're recognized as an industry leader in meaningful and creative storytelling. The Brand team has a pivotal role in our strategic growth, and our intern will have a front-row seat as we continue our multi-platform transformation to reach more audiences across broadcast, social, digital, events, podcasts and more.

We're looking for an energetic, detail-oriented self-starter who is interested in learning more about communications, marketing, events and project management. The support this position provides will directly contribute to launching new models of workflow, communications and strategic deployment, all focusing on audience growth and conversion.

 

Key Learning Goals:

  • Develop skills in a number of communications-focused areas: project management, internal and external communications, and goal-oriented strategic planning.
  • Be able to learn about each team lead's area of expertise by executing tasks on a project by project basis. Use this experience to inform their next career moves.
  • Immerse themselves in the Marketplace voice, mission and brand, so they can eloquently articulate it and increase their understanding of the news media industry overall.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Project management: Assist with shared calendar and process tools, serve as key driver of meetings and process needs for the Brand team, create event and planning documents, under direction of Senior Project Manager.
  • Research and tracking: Organize and classify brand documents, images and data, execute research and create recommendations on marketing initiatives, CRM-based data entry, maintain contact lists, complete news and trend scans/reports, and organize and classify brand documents, images and data.
  • Communications and planning: Draft presentation slides in PowerPoint for upcoming initiatives, participate in and recap brainstorm and brand meetings, and create project recaps.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduating senior in an undergraduate, or enrolled in a Master's program, or have earned a degree within the last 12 months.
  • Microsoft Office skills including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Excellent language skills, including writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • Must be a demonstrated self-starter with the ability to work efficiently, independently, and with limited direct supervision.
  • Good research and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework or experience in communications, business, marketing or journalism.

 

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
